Body Mind Spirit
Just One of Us
By Craig W. Johnson, Insight Assistant

Inside each of us exists the power and energy of the Universe, God or whatever you may personally call it. We've all been placed here by a miraculous force that has blessed us with life. We all come from the same Source. And if you really think about it, we are not only from the same Source, we are the same Source. In actuality, there's only One of us living here. One mind, One energy, One life. I am you and you are me and you are her and she is him and he is them and they are us and we are Source. One. The fact that we occupy separate bodies gives us as much distinction as the tiles that compose an elaborate and beautiful mosaic. Each of them is necessary, but without the others there is no point. We are here to recognize that we are the mosaic, not the pieces that make it.

Begin seeing the people around you as You. There is only One of us living here. We are all the same Source, of the same energy. Our journey here is to recognize that when others challenge us or inspire us, when they anger us or delight us, they are showing us another aspect of the One energy we comprise. The reason we exist in different bodies, have different lives, and different experiences is because the Source that we collectively are is that expansive. And because it's difficult to see ourselves, we need each other to teach us what the Source is all about. We are that toddler who laughs at the sight of a racing fire engine, we are that wrinkled old man eating alone at McDonald's, we are the people who anger and confuse us. They evoke thought and feeling in us because they are inside us-somewhere. We are everyone and they are us. Not figuratively-literally.

Start consciously meeting other aspects of You. When you meet someone new, or are challenged by someone, or are pleased by someone, or touched or tickled, say to yourself, "Hello, ME…what are you revealing about the One that I am?" There's a lot to discover about the vast Source that we are. It's no wonder we require many, many, many encounters with other tiles in the mosaic before we can even begin to see who we are. How would we ever know our capacity to love if we didn't get many opportunities-not all of them obvious-to act in love? How would we ever practice conquering the fear that limits us if we're not placed in numerous encounters that reveal this fear to us? Yes, we need each other to understand and exercise the Source we are. We need each other to see that we are each other.

Because we are the Source that's made of love and peace, we collectively have the ability to act in alignment with this energy. The intentions of the Source don't change depending on where it is. Whether It's here on Earth or in the Cosmos, Its only desire is to act in love. This is what we, the One, are in the process of learning. Our encounters with one another-with other aspects of the Source-are efforts towards bringing us closer to seeing the bigger picture. We all have the potential of the Source within us-the ability to love unconditionally. When we are challenged by other parts of the One because they anger us, disappoint us or hurt us it is our opportunity to acknowledge the Source we are. To embrace the other person as You, no matter how difficult that may be. Because in doing this, we practice what the Source has been trying to do since it got here-love You unconditionally.
